A Pretty Great Saturday

We have had quite a bit of snow in Central Ohio the last few days. It was much too daunting to pack up the boys for our usual Saturday outing to the gym, quilt shop and pet store, so we stayed in and had a Pretty Great Saturday.

The setting: my kitchen table (teeheehee, my husband hates it when my quilting stuff escapes its designated "sewing room")
The beverage: chai tea latte
The project: quilting my "Jewel Box" quilt (I might be setting a personal record here, a finished quilt in under a month!)
The background noise:

"mom, which family of mammals has the most species?"     -the professor (age 6)
"I am dropping my anchor and looking through my telescope, there is another pirate ship!"  -the pirate (age 4)
"I hope you have something under that machine to protect the table"  (I didn't. wicked, I know)
"why aren't you sewing in your sewing room?"  -the tyrant (see above)

Jewel Box Quilt

Yes, I am sheepishly reporting, I did get the Sashiko machine for Christmas. I love it. Today was my first time using it since Christmas and I got a ton accomplished on this quilt. Sew Exciting!

I'll show you more when I have it all quilted!
